Portraits 2. Here is a steam locomotive portrait of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #201, a B-6SA (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata as number "6052" during February of 1914, renumbered "201" in August of 1915, and retired in April of 1950. Partially visible at the right is PRR engine #3603, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata in March of 1917 and retired in February of 1950. Prophet. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by John M. Prophet III that was taken in Renovo, Pennsylvania, in October of 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4030, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata during August of 1915 and retired in August of 1957 after 42 years of faithful service. Visible at the right is a portion of the Renovo Enginehouse. The exact date is not recorded.

Description:
Even in this badly deteriorating photograph, the muscular jmage of the PRR Mikado L1s class loco can be seen. This loco was eventually sold to the ATSF in 1945 and saw service for a couple years before being scrapped in 1947. Warren W. McCleary Jr photo credit.

iCurve. Here is an image of a photo by Bruce D. Fales that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1947. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4162 and an unidentified A-B set of GM-EMD EP-20 diesels rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #4162 is an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built in Juniata in September of 1917 and retired in June of 1949 after 32 years of faithful service. They're climbing the Allegheny Mountains and rounding the Curve with a passenger train destined for Pittsburgh and points West. Perhaps the person at the right is about to place a penny on the railhead to be flattened by the next train?
